Steve Wittman

Chief Digital Officer, Sonic and Echo Park Automotive Group

Mr. Wittman has over 20 years of experience in the retail industry, ranging from Fast Moving Consumer Goods, to Rental Cars, to Automotive.  Mr. Wittman has been with Sonic Automotive since October 2020, when he was appointed the company’s first Chief Digital Retail Officer.

In his time at Sonic, Mr. Wittman has led breakthrough ecommerce innovation that is the best in the automotive industry.  Mr. Wittman developed a digital retailing tool that allows the consumer to buy a car 100% online with no human intervention.  The tool uses a unique combination of API’s, eCommerce technology, and Robotic Process Automation to achieve this experience.

Mr. Wittman spent 2018-2020 as Global VP of eCommerce at Hertz, where he led the $2.5B eCommerce business for the Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty brands.  He launched a new app for Hertz, which took the apple store star rating from 3.9 stars to 4.8 stars and launched a new Hertz.com in North America, driving conversion rates +20% vs. the legacy website.

Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Wittman spent almost 18 years at Procter and Gamble in the Brand function.  He led several global brands, including Head & Shoulders, Dawn/Joy dishwashing liquid, and new business development.  He spent 5 years abroad, in Geneva, Switzerland, working on the Global Dish Franchise, and India, Middle East, and Africa Home Care business.

Mr. Wittman enjoys international travel, new and different types of food, wine, and live sporting events.  He now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife of 17 years and family.
